PIP

WHAT IS PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE PAYMENT (PIP)

If you have long term ill-health or a disability, Personal Independence Payment (PIP) can help towards some of the extra costs incurred. You must be aged between 16 to 64 to claim this benefit. PIP looks at your ability to  cope with certain daily living activities and also considers your ability to get about outdoors.

You will usually be required to attend a face to face assessment before a decision can be made on your claim. If an award of PIP is made the length of the award can vary.

Depending on how your condition affects you, you could receive between £24.45 and £156.90 per week and could lead to extra benefits or increases in existing benefits.

ARE YOU CURRENTLY RECEIVING DISABILITY LIVING ALLOWANCE (DLA)

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is gradually being replaced by Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for people aged 16 to 64 even if they have an indefinite/life award of DLA.
